Baja Sea Kayaking and Whale Watching

Blue Waters Kayaking has been providing sea kayaking tours to Baja, Mexico, for over 20 years. In the mid '80s, Blue Waters pioneered Magdalena Bay Whale Watching trips during the gray whale calving season from late January through mid-March. In 2007 we will feature an 8-day Combination Sea of Cortez Eco-Resort and Magdalena Bay Whale Camp trip from February thru mid-March. This is a fabulous way to wind down and spend three relaxing days and nights in the incredible natural areas of the Sea of Cortez, sleeping in our comfortable beachside "casitas," eating delicious home-cooked organic vegetarian and seafood meals, hiking, snorkeling, kayaking, or just relaxing on one of the most beautiful undeveloped beaches in Baja. We then cross the Baja peninsula and spend the rest of the trip at our fabulous whale camp at Magdalena Bay, in the heart of the Gray Whale Calving and Nursing areas. Spending three days in the presence of these magnificent creatures is an experience you will treasure always.

We have also added a Sea of Cortez Combination Eco-Resort and Kayaking trip featuring 4 days at our charming beachfront resort near Loreto. Spend your days hiking, snorkeling, kayaking, or just unwinding in a beautiful secluded location. Sleep in comfortable beachfront casitas, eat delicious wholesome home-cooked meals, and enjoy the peace and quiet. We then pack up for a 3-day Island paddling expedition. A perfect getaway, appropriate for everyone, families included!

We provide the camping and kayaking equipment, fabulous Mexican home-style food, and naturalist-trained sea kayaking guides.
Just bring your sleeping bag, personal gear, enthusiasm, and willingness to both learn and have fun. In both programs, you'll be well cared for by our expert guides and instructors, who are all certified in Advanced Wilderness First Aid and above.

Blue Waters Kayaking is based in Inverness, California, in the Point Reyes National Seashore area, just an hour North of San Francisco. This is a large, pristine waterway that has been called "The Place Out of Time." We serve thousands of guests each year through kayak classes and rentals, tours, group events and youth programs. We strive to provide excellent customer service and a great vacation, whether you are with us for a day or for a week. Beginners are always welcome, as are children on many of our events.

No experience required ...
Come as you are. New to kayaking? Don't worry ... as long as you are in reasonable health and can paddle, you'll be able to kayak with us. Our skilled instructors will teach you the basics and then as much more as you want to learn. Not only will you learn to kayak, but each day will offer a host of other activities, from hiking to snorkeling, and to yoga on the beach.

Skills instruction with expert guides ...
One thing that sets us apart from other outfitters is that we make both single and double kayaks available on our tours. We have top-quality guides who can instruct you and make your trip with us not only enjoyable but also a learning experience. We'll share with you our love of marine life and the natural world. Some of our highly trained guides are marine scientists, veterinarians, biologists; all are avid kayakers. You can come as a beginner and learn your basic recovery techniques or learn to roll. You'll feel more competent and confident on the water. Since our trips are self-supported, you will also learn what it takes to plan your own expedition kayaking trip.
